Privacy Policy

1. Overview

Escape Matrix is a screen-time and focus app that helps you choose apps to limit, set daily limits or quiet hours, and receive notifications or shields when those rules become active. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

2. Information We Collect

• Account information: Firebase Authentication creates an anonymous account on first launch. If you choose to link or switch accounts with Google or Apple, Firebase may provide an email address, provider identifier, display name, and authentication tokens.
• Profile and onboarding information: We may store your chosen display name and onboarding completion state.
• Device restore identifier: We create a device identifier to restore your setup after reinstalling the app. This is not intended to identify you outside Escape Matrix.
• Screen Time selections and rules: We store the apps/categories you select through Apple Screen Time APIs, daily limits, quiet hours, pause state, and active rule state.
• Usage summaries: We may store aggregated screen-time summaries, selected app usage durations, top app usage durations, streak values, and influence/progress metrics used inside the app.
• Purchase and entitlement information: Purchases are processed by Apple through StoreKit. RevenueCat receives an Escape Matrix account identifier, product and entitlement status, and transaction metadata needed to verify, restore, and manage premium access. We do not receive your full App Store payment details.

3. Screen Time Data

Escape Matrix uses Apple FamilyControls, DeviceActivity, and ManagedSettings frameworks. Screen Time permission is required for app selection, usage reporting, limits, and shields. Apple provides app tokens and activity reports through system APIs. We use this information only to operate the focus features you configure.

4. How We Use Information

• To create and maintain your account and app settings.
• To sync your selected apps, rules, and profile state across installs or linked accounts.
• To calculate usage summaries, streaks, and Matrix influence/progress metrics.
• To schedule local notifications and apply Screen Time shields when your rules activate.
• To restore purchases and maintain basic account integrity.

5. Firebase and Cloud Sync

Escape Matrix uses Firebase Authentication and Cloud Firestore in the Firebase project connected to the app. Firestore may store your account state, device restore identifier, selected app tokens, rules, display name, usage summaries, and sync metadata. We use Firebase security rules and authentication tokens to protect this data.

6. RevenueCat and Subscriptions

Escape Matrix uses RevenueCat to verify App Store purchases and subscription entitlements. RevenueCat may process an app-specific customer identifier, product identifiers, purchase and renewal status, entitlement state, and related transaction metadata. Apple processes payment information. RevenueCat information is used only to provide, restore, and protect premium access.

7. Notifications

If you allow notifications, Escape Matrix sends alerts when a daily limit or quiet hour rule activates. Notification content may include Matrix-themed messages and, where applicable, the app affected by your rule.

8. What We Do Not Do

• We do not sell your personal information.
• We do not use third-party advertising SDKs.
• Firebase Analytics is not enabled in the current app configuration.
• We do not intentionally collect the contents of your messages, browsing history, photos, contacts, or precise location.

9. Data Retention and Deletion

Your data is kept while your account is active or as needed to provide the app. You can delete your account from Settings. When you delete your account, the app marks your cloud account as deleted, removes local app data, and restarts onboarding. Some records may remain temporarily in backups, logs, or systems where deletion is not immediate.

10. Your Choices

• You can revoke Screen Time access in iOS Settings.
• You can turn notifications off in iOS Settings.
• You can unlink app usage from active rules by clearing rules or deleting your account.
• You can choose whether to remain anonymous or link a Google/Apple provider.

11. Children

Escape Matrix is not intended to collect personal information from children without appropriate consent. If you believe a child provided personal information without consent, contact us so we can review and delete it where appropriate.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as the app changes. When we do, we will update the effective date above. Continued use of the app after changes means the updated policy applies.
